Will it float or sink?

Last week for science we were looking at what makes an object float or sink. We tested a variety of different materials such as a stick, plastic animal, leaf, counter etc. Before we dropped in the different material we make a prediction. Did we think it would sink or float? We then put our hypotheses to the test. The children put their science hats on and really got thinking about what makes a certain object float or sink.

Enjoy the photos of the scientists hard at work.

RATS RATS RATSSS!

Last week we had Te Korowai o Waiheke members come in and discuss our pest problem on the island, particularly rats. Their goal is to make Waiheke Island the worlds first predator free urban island. How awesome! They are currently doing a rat eradication test on Waiheke that Te Huruhi is a part of.

Ask your child about this and get talking! What can you do at home to help support this island wide goal?

Week 5 Gymnastics

We have been so lucky to have Katya from Waiheke Gymnastics come in to teach our tamariki. We had so much fun!

Thank you to the parents - Carina and Ludmila for helping out.
